Daily Camp Descriptions

Check out all of our awesome daily camps!

  • Birds & The Beasts Study Biology as you become an ornithologist and discover the unique characteristics of birds. Investigate feathers to see how birds fly. Dissect owl pellets to find out what they eat. Make your own seed mixture to attract your favorite species of birds to your own yard.
  • Cell City Take a fantastic trip into cell city. Learn about cells and the different parts within them. You will compare the parts of a cell to a real city as you investigate its different functions. Build your own take home mode cell out of unique materials.
  • Chemical Counting Get ready for a day in the Mad Science Laboratory! Turn a lemon into a battery. Experiment with electrochemical reactions as you electroplate a penny and a nickel. Learn how chemical elements help you to create chemical compounds. Put your new chemistry know-how to work as you make your own “brain goo!”
  • Crazy Chemistry Chemistry is part of your everyday life, but what is Chemistry? Explore this great topic and use chemistry to make your own sidewalk chalk and a chocolate candy roll. Create a crystal garden out of common household items and use chromatography to make a camp T-shirt.
  • Discover Detection Use your skills of listening, testing, and observation during this day of detection. We will investigate fingerprints, handwriting, and shoeprints to reveal the identity of our suspects. Listen to an audio crime story to learn clues needed to solve a mystery. Learn to view the story from all angles with a nifty new device.
  • Eureka! (one week) Young Inventors use basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and ingenuity to construct catapults and forts. Fabricate a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing robot and assemble a working light saber to take home. Bring lunch and drink. Download camp forms from website.
  • Funky Forensics Using forensics to evaluate evidence is a huge part of the spy business. Today we will analyze evidence with chemistry, collection skills, and spy tools. The correct conclusions are critical to solving the crime scene puzzle. We will identify acids and bases as well as synthetic blood samples in our forensic lab. Today all of your analytical skills will be tested
  • Jr. Engineers Structures are all around you, everywhere you look and everywhere you go! Join a team of scientists to inspect the elements of structures as you build, test; and yes, even eat some structures you create. Climb inside a geodesic dome that you construct with fellow campers. Build a Soma cube puzzle that may even stump your parents!
  • Machine Mania Investigate the world of simple machines as you learn that machines are helpful for work or play! Assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults and mega-pinchers! Use machines you create to feed yourself and shoot ping-pong balls! Operating your simple machines will make work seem like play.
  • Milky Way What is the Milky Way and how do we know what’s up there? Children will explore the celestial sphere, learn about celestial navigation and build their own sextant, sundial, planisphere and even a refracting telescope while discovering the wonders of the Milky Way.
  • Organ Trail Do you know the recipe for a healthy body? You will after you journey down the Mad Science Organ Trail. Come to camp and meet "Tall Paul" or his cousin "Small Paul"! Paul is a torso model that can have his organs removed and replaced. Investigate the brains, bones, lungs, heart, and digestion systems of Paul! Make a gutsy apron and a model lung to take home.
  • Radical Reactions Ready, set, reactions! Learn with hands-on reactions that matter is never created or destroyed. Make a rainbow and a chemical clock in a cup. Experiment with chemical bonds and whirligigs as you discover conductivity. Make your own invisible ink to take home.
  • Rock, Paper, Scissors It is the middle ages and your “army” is under siege. All you have at your disposal is paper, scissors and … duct tape. What will you do? How will you defend your castle? How will you take the battle to their castle to vanquish your foes?
  • Rockin' Rockets Imagine yourself soaring over the clouds and into space as you build your own model rocket that can fly over 500 feet. Learn about rockets with hands-on experiments and activities. Learn the Model Rocket Safety Code and take part in a real rocket launch.
  • Science Fiction Journey to the future and examine the ultramodern inventions of the 23rd century. Then design the future - today. "Create" light sabers, hovercraft, and jet packs.
  • Slueths on the Scene As a secret agent, you will need to learn how to process clues at a scene. Discover proper procedures as we use all of our senses to study and dissect debris for evidence. Our scientist spies will learn the art of the inflatable fingerprint as they discover perplexing partial and leftover latent prints
  • Spy Academy Campers utilize spy gear such as metal detectors, spy ears, and motion sensors to hone our skills. Spies need to understand and use secret codes to pass along important information. Our Mad Science spies will investigate the dancing men code, Braille, and many other ways to share classified information. Use your new skills to write a message and digestively dispose of it before it can get into the wrong hands.
  • Up, Up, & Away Harnessing the wind and taking flight is tons of fun! Build and decorate a kite while learning about the forces of flight. Discover how hot air balloons and parachutes work. See what happens when the sun heats the air in a 50-foot long black bag.
  • Wright Stuff!! Step into the shoes of early aircraft inventors and experience the discovery of flight. Learn how the Wright brothers used science to achieve flight. Use the Scientific Method and a wind tunnel to solve the problem of controlling an airplane. Record your daily achievements in a camp journal. Assemble your own rubber band powered stunt plane. Take home a flying helicopter that is similar to the toy that fascinated the Wright brothers as young boys.
